Supported Independent Living

Support in your home, built around the way you want to live. Our SIL service helps with everyday tasks and builds the skills and confidence to live more independently.

NDIS registration group: Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is help with, or supervision of, daily tasks so you can live as independently as possible, in a home you feel comfortable in. SIL is about the support you receive in your home, it is separate from the cost of housing or rent.

At Westcott Services we take SIL seriously because it is your home. We take the time to understand your routines, preferences and goals, then build a roster and support team that fits your life, not the other way around.

How we can help

  • Personal care and daily routines, morning to night
  • Planning, shopping for and preparing meals you enjoy
  • Household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and tidying
  • Building skills in cooking, budgeting and independent living
  • Getting to appointments, activities and community events
  • Support to get on well with housemates and have your say in the home
  • Medication support in line with your plan and our policies
  • Overnight support, where your plan includes it

Who this is for

  • Participants whose plan includes SIL funding
  • People exploring a move out of the family home or a change in living arrangement
  • Families wanting peace of mind that a loved one is safe, supported and heard

What to expect

Meet and listen

We meet you (and the people you choose) to understand your goals, needs and what a good day looks like.

Plan the support

We design your roster, introduce your support team and, where relevant, talk about housemate compatibility.

Start and review

Support begins on your terms. We check in regularly and adjust as your goals and needs change.

Good to know: SIL funding is decided by the NDIA and is individual to each plan. If you are not sure whether you are eligible, call us. We can explain the process and point you in the right direction.

Common questions

Is SIL the same as housing?

No. SIL covers the support you receive with daily living. Housing costs such as rent are separate. We can talk you through how the two fit together.

Can I choose who supports me?

Yes. We aim to match you with workers whose skills and personality suit you, and you can tell us if something is not working.

Ready to talk? We are here to listen.

Tell us a little about what you need. There is no pressure and no obligation, just a friendly conversation about how we can help.
